Mdukatshani is a collective of highly skilled makers. Craftsmen and women specialized in weaving copper and other metal wires. The result is a unique handmade bowl showcasing the best of contemporary craft art. The technique consists by making a ceramic bowl first to use as a base. Around that base the copper wire is woven extremely tight in a pattern or plain color. Several colors such as copper, silver, … can be used for one piece. Sometines pearls can be added making a traditional african pattern. Weaving metal threads by hands demands patience and great skill. One bowl can take up to one month of work according to the pattern and size.
