Mirjam de Nijs is a Dutch sculptor vreating since 38 years. She creates abstract stone sculptures that possess both strength and softness. The sculptures testify to their natural origins. The
sculptor emphasizes the unique character of the stone. To this, she adds
through an artistic process, a culture that is expressive and multifaceted,
recognizable as her signature in stone. Striking in her work is the great
diversity of stone types, many different applications, colors, and
sizes.
Mirjam de Nijs’s sculptures are testimonies to what inspires her; an
event, a movement, a tone, a scent, the world. The sculpture forms a
personal expression of this, a translation into a universal visual language, in which the age-old
quality of stone blends in.
