Marine Halna du Fretay is a Franco-Belgian visual artist based in Brussels.
Trained as a fashion designer, she spent over twenty years in artistic direction at Hermès. Since 2019, she has developed a distinctive practice spanning ceramics, drawing, and textiles.
The sea is central to her work. Deeply connected to her native Brittany, she draws on its landscapes as both a source of inspiration and a site of collection, gathering materials washed ashore. From these finds emerge unique works composed of knotted ropes and interwoven ceramics.
Through these assemblages, Marine Halna du Fretay pays tribute to the beauty of the oceans while examining their vulnerability, inviting a nuanced reflection on their future.
